THE TORRIANO, TORRIANO AVENUE, KENTISH TOWN, NW5 2SG
It may be cold outside, but this Tuesday at TNT COMEDY at the Torriano, we’ll be inviting you to fling out your fleeces, throw out your thermals and snuff out your Snuggies as we turn up the thermostat on our very own furnace of fun.
SARA PASCOE…in 2011 Sara was a regular performer on Channel 4′s Stand Up for The Week, and a regular panelist on Sky’s Wall of Fame. She also appeared as Nicole Huggins in the comedy series Campus and filmed a second series of Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret for the U.S and a cameo for BBC 4 series Twenty Twelve.
“…an enjoyable fusion of silliness and intelligence – a comic who can get Nietzsche and cunnilingus into the same breath has to be applauded” – (CHORTLE) “…dry and offbeat…served up a lot of creative ideas…the quirky routine was always intriguing…her persona of a mildly spaced-out naïf lets her explore borderline surreal material, yet make it still sound convincing, while heightening the impact of the smartly-written jokes” – (STEVE BENNETT, CHORTLE) JAMES REDMOND… is a dry, slick and subtle stand up who delivers unexpected twists and turns during his set as he deconstructs his art. He made his name as an actor and is best known for seminal roles in ‘HOLLYOAKS’ and ‘CASUALTY’ and presenting ‘SM:TV’ & ‘CD:UK’ alongside Cat Deeley. He has appeared on ‘NEVER MIND THE BUZZCOCKS’ ‘CELEBRITY COME DINE WITH ME’ with fellow comedians Paul Foot and Joey Page, and is a regular guest and contributor on ‘SOCCER AM’ (Sky 1) & Radio 5 Live. “…fresh-off-the-telly James Redmond has the makings of a really good comic. His tales of texting, girlfriends and Barry from Bristol are quality stuff’- (KATE COPSTICK, ‘Fringe Magazine’, Edinburgh Festival debut, 2010) REUBEN CHRISTIAN…founder of the successful men’s styling website and blog ‘www.individualism.co.uk‘, is an entrepreneur/ comedian/ presenter who has achieved so much over the last few years with the website as well as comedy and presenting. Reuben believes in pushing the boundaries in all areas of his life and his comedy style is no exception to his rule. “…look up cool in the dictionary and Reuben Christians name will come up. He represents everything that is hip about London right now” – (MOUTH2MOUTH VOICES) DAVE GREEN…takes you on a journey through his uniquely funny subconscious. He has qualified for all the later rounds of the major competitions and was the winner of the Max Turner competition at Cavendish Arms. Now a regular on the London comedy scene, his misanthropic persona and downbeat delivery are fast proving popular with audiences and promoters alike. SIMON STANLEY WARD…is a talented musician from deepest Highbury, with an album out on iTunes already, who is also quite funny sometimes. Hopefully we have him on a good night. Otherwise lower your expectations accordingly. “…put in a cracking performance at The Camden Store’s A Right Royal Warm Up” – (DAISY DRURY, THE CAMDEN STORE) “…he’s a singer songwriter who really does understand irony and he’s a man with the talent to pull it off” – (NEIL KING, FATEA Magazine) ROSS BARDEN…is surprisingly good looking for a ginger fella. He may have grown up in the countryside but luckily didn’t turn out racist. Ross likes to muck about with language and words and tells jokes about failing relationships, the economy, boarding school and his departed mum and sex tourism. And, most importantly, he wears a hat. “…the Bardenator, a joke writing machine” – (PAUL WOGAN, fellow funnyman) JAMES O’CONNOR…a man who with a cheeky, light hearted outlook, takes and pokes fun at some of the weird and extreme, natures of society. From a stuttering, jibbering wreck – Has Gareth Gates taken a pill akin to the film limitless?! “…charming” – (Various) “…generous” – (Big Issue seller in Willesden) CHRIS GAU…BBC New Comedy Awards Heats 2011…observational humour with an original slant. Whilst wearing a silly hat. “…I have genuinely never seen so much promise in a newcomer” – (BBC Producer, NEW COMEDY AWARDS) “…hmmm…it was like watching a small child pick up a tennis racket for the first time” – (RHOD GILBERT) MARK BROWN as LORD HORATIO NELSON…back from ‘sea’, the blackened drink that steals his stones at every sodden corner, he struggles to adapt to modern London, his 18th Century ways at odds with 21st Century Britain. A drunken bully, a coward, a warmonger, a dirty old man and a narcissist, the real Nelson is a far cry from the legendary Admiral so revered in British History. EDMUND COX… if Edmund looks familiar ladies, he is! Edmund Cox a.k.a.’That-Slightly-Awkwa “…we found him entertaining but a little odd” – (Parents of an ex-girlfriend. Identities hidden) JOSHUA ROSS…the self proclaimed Ed Miliband of stand up, is by no means the funniest person in his family, but backstabbing and lying will take him all the way to the top of the Kentish Town open mic scene. “…have you ever been funny? Maybe once.” – (GEORGE HARRIS, friend of 9 years) “…I liked it when you stopped telling jokes” – (A Devoted Fan) CHRIS CANTRILL…has been working London’s open mic circuit for the last 12 months, playing venues normally reserved for wakes, dog fights and even the occasional Lemon Party. Oh, and funny. Very, very funny!” – (Richard, PARACHUTE PRODUCTIONS) “…I saw him knock a Shire horse out once. A man of principle” – (BUS STOP STEVEN) “…always delivers” – (Line Manager, UPS) TONY WHEELER…tells us about relaxed life according to Wheeler…from the perspective of a lazy man with a misunderstanding of why the world is like it is. “…turns lazy into an art form” – (TONY’S WIFE) “…slow the F**k down, a living example” – (THE TIMES) “…any more laid back he’d be asleep” – (THE METRO) AND …JIM KENT!!!
