Róisin Dubh Comedy presents
Two of the finest comedians working on the world circuit at the moment
STEVE HUGHES / GLENN WOOL
STEVE HUGHES
Following stellar performances on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow (BBC One) and Stand-Up For The Week (CH4) and sell-out shows at the Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne Comedy Festivals, inimitable Australian comic Steve Hughes will be starting his long awaited debut solo tour with a return visit to Galway’s Roisin Dubh.
One of the most exciting and distinctive comedians on the circuit, Steve recently joined Reginald D Hunter as a special guest on his mammoth nationwide tour – taking in over 80 venues playing to tens of thousands of people nationwide (Throughout 2010 and 2011) and gaining legions of extra fans along the way.
Expect intelligent, thought-provoking, straight-talking social commentary from this former heavy metal drummer. Steve is an erudite, philosophical, highly opinionated and provocative performer – a paradoxical blend of laid-back charm and acute caustic anti-establishment humour.
“ACUTELY OBSERVED AND CUTTING BONE-DEEP. STEVE DELVES INTO GUTSIER TERRITORY – RACISM, TERRORISM, HOMOPHOBIA – WITH AN HONESTY AND OPENNESS RARELY SEEN AMONG COMICS. HIS INSIGHTS ARE SPOT-ON, HIS OPINIONS ARE INTELLIGENT AND HIS JOKES ARE TOP CLASS” Guardian
“THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT POLITICAL COMEDY SHOULD BE INTELLIGENT, PROVOCATIVE, PROFOUND, AND TOPPED OFF WITH GOOD, SOLID GAGS. SEE HIM WHILE IT’S STILL LEGAL” Chortle
GLENN WOOL
Here is a man in complete command of the stage, and his material. Part playful, part polemic, Glenn Wool tackles the big issues with a preachers zeal but a gagsters love of the punchline. You might easily underestimate him from his appearance and demeanour of a Canadian wastrel with porn-star moustache and little interests beyond beer, Xbox and the fine work of AC/DC. But he combines drop-out sensibilities with a strong intellect, compelling logic and mischievous fun.
Glenn won the Time Out Award in Sydney in April 2010 (that’s the Australian Perrier) and was nominated for Best Headliner at the 2008 Chortle Awards. He is also our favourite comic in the whole wide world.
Glenn is bringing his critically acclaimed show No Lands Man to Galway’s Roisin Dubh on Wednesday 25th January. Now living & working in the US, Glenn is only going to be back for these two dates, so make sure not to miss out!

“Wool’s new show is a masterpiece of comedy which has the audience helpless with laughter. I genuinely think this is one of the best hours of comedy I have ever seen.” Kate Copstick, THE SCOTSMAN
★★★★★
“When you watch Glenn Wool, you realise the heights that a talented performer can reach simply by standing on stage and telling stories. This is an unmissable show from a master of the craft, and the hour was over way too quickly.” THE ARTS DESK
